Audience

The course is designed for systems analysts and application programmers.

Prerequisites

COBOL or PL/1 programming experience as well as program edit and submission knowledge.

Duration

2-3 days. Hands on.

Course Objectives

This course introduces the student to the concepts of data communication in IMS and covers the programming components necessary for coding on-line programs.

Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:

  • Write a typical Message Processing Program.
  • Describe the differences in conversational programs.
  • Describe the useful facilities of IMS DC.
  • Write and test a simple PSB.
  • Use BTS to test an MPP.
  • Code and use simple MFS
