Audience

This course is valuable for systems programmers who are responsible for installing, maintaining, and customising JES2.

Prerequisites

A basic understanding of z/OS, particularly in the following areas; Program & Task management, Virtual storage management, I/O processing, and a working knowledge of SMP/E.

Course Objectives

This course provides delegates with the necessary skills to install and tailor JES2 to meet particular requirements. Course objectives are:

  • To enable students to install and test JES2.
  • Knowledge of Multi access spool environments.
  • Ability to make good choices for JES2 parameters.
  • Avoidance of common JES2 support errors.
  • Knowledge of RJE and NJE networks
  • Ability to gather diagnostic data.
  • Aptitude to identify and correct JES2 problems.

Detail Considerations for Multi-access Spool Environment

Reconfiguration of the Spool and Checkpoint Data Set

Selection of Appropriate Exit Points for Customisation

Creation of JES2 Networks (RJE & NJE)
Implement and test a simple NJE network

Gathering of Diagnostic Data for Problem Resolution

Identification and Correction of JES2 Performance Problems
